Tecnología constructiva de los buques de pasaje de mediados del siglo XIX

Abstract

El objeto de este estudio no es otro que llegar a conocer la Tecnología Constructva de Ios Barcos de Pasaje a mediados del siglo XIX. Fue en este periodo en el que se produjo el cambio de esa forma de hacer barcos, similar a la empleada desde hace más de 6000 años. Ese periodo, al que se puede etiquetar de autentica revolución, por la forma de construir, por los materiales empleados y por los barcos resultantes, es el objeto principal de la investigación a llevar a cabo. Se particulariza en la parcela de los barcos de pasaje, por vivencias profesionales propias en ese tipo de barcos. Si se tiene en cuenta que el cambio abarcó al casco, que dejó de ser de madera; a la propulsión, que dejó de ser a vela; al personal que los construía, que dejaron de ser calafates; al herramental de los talleres, que ya no incluyó a las sierras de cinta, y a cualquier otro aspecto que intervenía en la construcción, habrá que convenir que hay campo sobrado para la realización de este estudio. Para llegar a un mejor conocimiento de los nuevos barcos, se va a tratar de que lo estudiado comprenda los siguientes temas, en extensión suficiente: - Proyecto de barcos. - Estudio de un astillero. - Características del hierro. - Planos empleados en astilleros. - Construcción del casco. - Elementos auxiliares del casco. - Maquinaria propulsara. - Auxiliares de maquinaria. - Tubería. - Detalles de habilitación. - Prácticas y reglamentos de Seguridad. - Proyecto de principio de un barco con formulaciones del s.XIX. En relación con lo citado irán apareciendo los principales responsables de que todo esto se hiciera. La mayoría de los que se citen serán ingenieros franceses e ingleses, que son los que llevaron el peso de esta revolución naval en el citado siglo. / The purpose of this study is none other than to get to know the Constructve Technology of Passenger Ships in the mid-nineteenth century. It was in this period that the change in this way of making ships took place, similar to the one used for more than 6000 years. That period, which can be labeled a true revolution, due to the way of building, the materials used and the resulting boats, is the main object of the investigation to be carried out. It is particularized in the area of ​​passenger ships, due to their own professional experiences on this type of ship. If it is taken into account that the change included the hull, which ceased to be made of wood; to propulsion, which ceased to be sailing; to the personnel who built them, who stopped being caulkers; to the tooling of the workshops, which no longer included the band saws, and to any other aspect that intervened in the construction, it will be necessary to agree that there is plenty of field to carry out this study. In order to get a better understanding of the new boats, we will try to ensure that what has been studied includes the following topics, to a sufficient extent: - Boat projects. - Study of a shipyard. - Characteristics of iron. - Plans used in shipyards. - Hull construction. - Auxiliary elements of the hull. - Propulsion machinery. - Auxiliary machinery. - Pipe. - Enabling details. - Safety practices and regulations. - Project of the beginning of a boat with formulations from the 19th century. In relation to the aforementioned, the main people responsible for all this being done will appear. Most of those cited will be French and English engineers, who are the ones who carried the weight of this naval revolution in the aforementioned century.
