Los ingenieros de la marina motores de la renovación y la tecnificación de la construcción naval española (1770-1827): su organización, academia y realizaciones

Abstract

El trabajo se articula en tres volúmenes, el primero del Texto, con 549 páginas, articuladas en 18 capítulos, el de Anexos con 266 páginas articuladas en 15 capítulos, y el tercero, un "Corpus Documental" de 567 páginas en 16 capítulos. Tras un capítulo introductorio sobre el entorno naval español de la época, y otro sobre los constructores de buques y su formación en Europa, para servir de referencia a lo que sigue, se entra en los capítulos fundamentales del trabajo. En ellos se narra, con gran apoyo de documentos inéditos hasta la fecha, la creación del Cuerpos de Ingenieros de la Armada y las causas que la motivaron, a raíz de la llegada a España del ingeniero francés François Gautier, las Ordenanzas Militares que se les dieron, la creación de la Academia lugares que ocupó y sus avatares, los uniformes que llevaron, la esencia y formación de los ingenieros navales, su situación en el siglo XIX y las causas de su supresión en 1827. Igualmente se desarrolla el estudio de los conflictos competenciales con otros Cuerpos de la Armada, singularmente el General y el del Ministerio, el número de ingenieros, su escalafón e identificación personal, se analizan los arsenales donde trabajaron, los auxiliares del cuerpo y la Maestranza, así como otras no navales que les fueron encargadas. Se detallan, por último, las circunstancias de la dimisión, vuelta a Francia y muerte de Gautier. Los dos últimos capítulos del texto están dedicados a las conclusiones y a la nomenclatura, fuentes y bibliografía. / The work is divided into three volumes, the first of the Text, with 549 pages, articulated in 18 chapters, the Annexes with 266 pages articulated in 15 chapters, and the third, a "Documentary Corpus" of 567 pages in 16 chapters. After an introductory chapter on the Spanish naval environment of the time, and another on shipbuilders and their training in Europe, to serve as a reference for what follows, the fundamental chapters of the work are entered. They narrate, with great support from unpublished documents to date, the creation of the Corps of Engineers of the Navy and the causes that motivated it, as a result of the arrival in Spain of the French engineer François Gautier, the Military Ordinances that were they gave, the creation of the Academy, the places it occupied and its ups and downs, the uniforms they wore, the essence and training of naval engineers, their situation in the 19th century and the causes of their suppression in 1827. Likewise, the study of the competence conflicts with other Corps of the Navy, particularly the General and the Ministry, the number of engineers, their ranking and personal identification, the arsenals where they worked, the auxiliaries of the Corps and the Maestranza, as well as other non-navals that they were commissioned. Finally, the circumstances of Gautier's resignation, return to France and death are detailed. The last two chapters of the text are dedicated to the conclusions and to the nomenclature, sources and bibliography.
