Mestres d’aixa i mestres calafats a la Barcelona del segle XVIII: dos exemples de confraries marítimes a l’època moderna (1599-1648).

Abstract

El presente artículo versa sobre las cofradías de los carpinteros de ribera y los calafates de Barcelona durante la primera mitad del siglo XVII. El análisis de estos dos oficios nos permite conocer diferentes aspectos del mundo de la construcción naval en la ciudad: las relaciones entre maestros y aprendices, la reglamentación del trabajo, la asistencia espiritual a los cofrades, la estructura de la cofradía o la incorporación de nuevos miembros. Además, es importante analizar la relación de los carpinteros de ribera y calafates con las Reales Atarazanas de Barcelona y su maestranza. / This article deals with the guild of the shipwrights and the caulkers of Barcelona during the first half of the 17th century. The analysis of the two trades sheds light on the different aspects of the world of the shipbuilding in the city: the relationships between masters and apprentices, the regulation of work, spiritual assistance to the guild members, the structure of the guild or the incorporation of the new members. It is also important to analyze the relationships between the shipwrights and caulkers with the Royal Shipyards of Barcelona and its workers.
