La matrícula de mar y el reclutamiento de hombres para la Armada Borbónica en el Cantábrico gallego. La Mariña lucense y ortegal (1752-1873).

Abstract

Tratan las siguientes líneas de aportar algunos datos relativos a la Matrícula de Mar, inserta en la ordenanzas generales de la armada de 1748, en una comarca gallega (Ortegal-A Mariña) alejada geográfica e históricamente de todo, incluso de la historiografía. en el cabo de ortegal se juntan las aguas del atlántico con las del cantábrico, en un punto donde se derrota de un mar hacia otro, encrucijada aprovechada cotidianamente por los buques corsarios para cortar el comercio español y gallego procedente del sur con el norte. la Matrícula supuso el alistamiento en los «reales bageles de su Magestad» de todas aquellas personas dedicadas al mundo del mar (marineros, pescadores, toneleros, fareros, calafateadores…) cuya edad estuviese comprendida, en principio, entre los catorce y los sesenta años. ello en un momento (siglo XVIII) en que las guerras con Inglaterra se sucedían y los fomentadores catalanes de la pesca se asentaban en las costas gallegas. / the following lines aim to provide the reader with some data concerning the Matrícula de Mar (register of seamen), part of the general orders of the spanish Armada (Ordenanzas Generales de la Armada) of 1748, in ortegal-a Mariña, a galician region which has always been far from everything, both geographically and historically, even from the historiography. It is in cape ortegal where the atlantic waters join those of the cantabrian sea, in a junction point where both seas merge into each other and which corsair vessels would quite often take advantage of, cutting the spanish and galician trade flows coming from the south towards the north. The Matrícula implied the enrolment in the «Reales Bageles de Su Magestad» of all those people who had a relation with the sea: sailors, fishermen, coopers, lighthouse keepers, shipwrights, and others, between the ages of 14 and 60. all this during a period, the 18.th century, where wars against england came one after the other, and the catalan fishing supporters settled in the galician coast.
