Abstract: This digital object is one of the results of the All Hands On Deck Erasmus+ project, developed by the team leaded by the University of Murcia and including CEIPES, IW, WULS, IDEC and CETEM.
Description: Interview of IDEC (https://www.idec.gr) with Mr. Thodoris Tsikis, Shipbuilding Mechanical Engineer, owner of the traditional TSIKIS BOATYARD (https://www.tsikisboatyard.com). The interview was conducted in the framework of the Erasmus + program "ALL HANDS ON DECK - European work heritage in shipwright for present and future (https://allhandsondeck.eu). It is the first of a series of video interviews with wooden shipbuilders, and employees in the field of woodworking with the aim of promoting this employment, the real experiences of their work, capturing the problems and opportunities for the future. Our participants share their experiences and answer the questions (indicatively): - Incentives and benefits for young employees in the profession. - Wooden shipbuilding’s methods and tools. - Current situation and tips for the future. - Current institutional framework for training new shipwrights.
